The Artist

A signature in space

Rémi Plault is a self-taught French sculptor, trained with the Compagnons du Devoir. His first commission, the Stag made for the Hôtel La Chaumière in Aubigny-sur-Nère, revealed a vocation: built from taut steel rods, it marked the moment sculpture claimed him.

Years of research in the workshop followed, until he found his signature — the Scroll, that patiently folded, coiled and welded curve which gives steel movement, lightness and feeling.

From this research came the collection The Metal Scrolls, entirely shaped by hand, in which animals, objects and silhouettes are built from assembled lines in motion. In 2026, several of his works were presented at the Hôtel West End, on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice.

With the Gilded Collection, Rémi Plault opens a new chapter. Deep black converses with the brilliance of gold leaf, while the scroll concentrates on the essential: the antlers of a stag, the mane of a lion, the posture of a human figure.

A native of Touraine, he conceives each sculpture as a signature in space, designed to converse with architecture and exceptional settings.

“I do not sculpt the form, I sculpt the movement that runs through it.”

Collection I

The Metal Scrolls

The steel is folded, coiled and welded by hand. Every scroll carries the trace of a gesture. Assembled by the hundred, The Metal Scrolls bring forth the silhouette of an object, an animal or a movement.

The Piano, monumental welded steel sculpture of a grand piano in scrollwork

The Piano

Available work

The Metal Scrolls · Steel · Unique piece

Life-size · H. 200 × W. 200 × D. 170 cm

Eighty-eight hand-forged keys — The Piano belongs to the language of scrolls. Like learning the instrument itself, making it demanded time, patience and mastery. A piano heard with the eyes. Its curves suggest a music without notes, made of imagined vibrations. Usually massive, the instrument becomes light here, silent and airborne.

The Whale, monumental welded steel sculpture forming a whale's tail in scrollwork

The Whale

Available work

The Metal Scrolls · Steel · Unique piece

Life-size · H. 200 × W. 220 × D. 70 cm

The first work made in this language of scrolls, The Whale captures the animal's last visible moment before it dives into the depths. That movement echoes Rémi Plault's own: with this sculpture, he too chose to plunge fully into a new artistic language. The whale disappears into the deep while the artist discovers his own.

Collection II

The Gilded Collection

In the Gilded Collection, deep black converses with the brilliance of gold leaf. The scroll is pared back to reveal the essential line of each subject: the antlers of a stag, the mane of a lion, the wings of a falcon or the posture of a human figure. A single line is then enough to bring a presence into being.

The Stag, gloss black resin sculpture whose antlers are shaped into scrolls of gold leaf

The Gilded Collection · Gloss black · Resin & 18-carat gold leaf

Life-size · H. 215 × W. 200 × D. 80 cm · Limited edition of 8

Subtle format · H. 40 × W. 37 × D. 15 cm · Limited edition of 8

The first subject to mark Rémi Plault's path, the stag returns here in a new form. Its black body recedes so that the antlers may carry the whole work. Turned into golden scrolls, they become a living crown, between animal power and plant architecture. This return to the stag links the artist's beginnings to the more pared-back language he develops today.

The Lion, gloss black resin sculpture whose mane is shaped into scrolls of gold leaf

Life-size · H. 150 × W. 250 × D. 90 cm · Limited edition of 8

Subtle format · H. 40 × W. 67 × D. 24 cm · Limited edition of 8

The Lion concentrates all the beast's power in its mane. The golden scrolls do not reproduce the coat; they reveal its movement, its strength and its nobility. Inspired by the Atlas lion, now extinct in the wild, the work turns its majesty into memory and its mane into a crown.

The Falcon, gloss black resin sculpture whose wing is traced with scrolls of gold leaf

Single size · H. 45 × W. 20 × D. 35 cm · Limited edition of 8

The Falcon seizes the instant when stillness becomes tension. Its gaze precedes flight, while golden scrolls run along the folded wing like contained energy. They do not reproduce the plumage; they reveal the invisible force running through the animal before it launches.

La Penseuse, gloss white resin sculpture run through internally with scrolls of gold leaf

Life-size · H. 110 × W. 65 × D. 80 cm · Limited edition of 8

Subtle format · H. 40 × W. 24 × D. 29 cm · Limited edition of 8

A tribute to Rodin's Thinker, La Penseuse takes up a universal posture of reflection to tell an intimate story. It embodies Rémi Plault at a time when sculpture and the scroll filled his mind entirely. The golden curves do not stay confined within thought. They run through the body, inhabit it from within, and give form to a creative obsession that had become impossible to contain.
